Bonner, Taurasi Tabbed for Euroleague Awards

The Phoenix Mercury was well represented ins 2014 All-Euroleague Awards.

First launched in March of 1997, is comprised of nearly 300 people across the world who cover professional and semi-pro basketball on a global basis. Additionally, is a go-to destination for scores, stats and updates on your favorite Mercury players as they migrate overseas during the WNBA offseason.

In their annual Euroleauge Awards, selected DeWanna Bonner for their All-Euroleague First Team, All-Imports Team and Guard of the Year. Bonner averaged 16.9 points and 8.4 rebounds during Euroleague play while shooting 54.3 percent from the field and 87.5 percent from the foul line for Nadezhda Orenburg.

In Russian League play, Bonner was fourth in scoring (15.3 points) and led Nadezhda to a 14-4 record.

Diana Taurasi of UMMC was selected to the All-Euroleague Second Team. Taurasi posted averages of 15 points, 5.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor and a blistering 48.1 percent from beyond the arc. She averaged 12.2 points and 4.2 assists (fourth place) in the Russian League.

Taurasis UMMC and Bonners Nadezhda Orenburg will meet in the Russian League Finals on April 25.

Last but not least, after having a hugely impressive season in Spain playing for Perfumerias with Krystal Thomas, the recently signed Shay Murphy was selected as an Honorable Mention. Murphy averaged 18.4 points and 6.4 rebounds in Euroleague. She also led Perfumerias to a league-best 18-4 record in the LFB and was third in the league in scoring.
