PHOENIX - The two-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today added point guard Chelsea Hopkins to the team's training camp roster, the team has announced. 2014 Phoenix Mercury training begins April 27 and the 2014 season tips off May 17.
Hopkins, 5-8, was a four-year collegiate performer at San Diego State University (2011-13) and Duke University (2008-10). As a senior, Hopkins led the Aztecs to a school-record 27 wins and their second-straight Mountain West Conference regular season championship while averaging 13.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.2 steals. The 23-year-old signed as a rookie free agent with the San Antonio Stars in 2013, appearing in three games for the club and averaging 2.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
Currently playing for Bnot Hertzeliya in Israel, Hopkins is averaging 16.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists.
