The Minnesota Lynx are the defending WNBA Champions for a reason.

Indeed, they proved that in an 82-77 Game 2 win Sunday afternoon against the Mercury.

The best-of-three series shifts back to Phoenix for the deciding Game 3 at US Airways Center on Tuesday, September 2 at 7 p.m.

It was a back and forth game all night with the Mercury leading by 13 at one point. But Minnesota clawed their way back in the second half thanks to 13 fourth quarter points from Maya Moore. Tied at 75 with 23.3 seconds left, Seimone Augustus hit a 15-foot jumper and was fouled by DeWanna Bonner to put the Lynx up three and ultimately sealing their victory.

In a reversal from Game 1, Minnesota hit 22-of-25 from the foul line in Game 2 compared to 15-of-16 for the Mercury. Phoenix shot 47 percent from the field compared to Minnesota's 40 percent, but a 26-15 fourth quarter for the Lynx was too much for the Mercury to overcome.

Diana Taurasi finished with 23 points, six boards and five dimes while Candice Dupree added 18 points and nine rebounds. Brittney Griner had 14 points for Phoenix.
