Phoenix is a WNBA-best 19-3 (.864) and has held the best record in the league for more than a month. WNBA All-Stars Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and
Candice Dupree have led the team on the court, while Sandy Brondelloin her first season as head coach of the Mercuryhas had one of the most successful
starts to a head coaching tenure in league history.
History has been made on the court this season as Taurasi became the WNBAs second-leading all-time scorer and Griner blocked a WNBA record 11 shots in a
game and is on pace to set the single-season record. The Mercury will look to make history again during the playoffs by winning their third WNBA
championship, a feat only accomplished by one other team, the Houston Comets.
A key to the success of the Mercury this season has been the X-Factor. The best fans in the WNBA have helped the Mercury to a franchise-record 10-1 (.909)
home record and a current nine-game home winning streak. Phoenix has been dominant at the US Airways Center all season long, outscoring opponents by an
average of 14.8 points per game.
