Mercury forward DeWanna Bonner was named the Western Conference Player of the Week, the WNBA league office announced today. It marks her second weekly honor this season, and third in her career.

The award comes after the 6-4 forward averaged 23 points and 10 rebounds during two games in three nights last week. Bonner recorded 24 points and 11 rebounds Thursday at Seattle, and 22 points and 9 rebounds Saturday at home vs. San Antonio. Thursday's performance was Bonner's ninth career 20-10 effort, surpassing Jennifer Gillom for the most in franchise history.

Saturday marked her 22nd career double-digit rebound effort, also the most in franchise history.

The three-time Sixth Woman of the Year is averaging 20.2 points per game, second-most in the league, and 7.4 rebounds. The Mercury is currently 6-19 (.316) on the season. Phoenix travels to New York Wednesday to take on Cappie Pondexter and the Liberty (10-16). Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT. Fans can tune in to NBATV to catch the action.

Phoenix returns home on Wednesday, September 12 when it hosts the Connecticut Sun at 7 p.m. Tickets are still available by calling 602-252-WNBA or visiting phoenixmercury.com.
