PHOENIX - Phoenix Mercury forward Penny Taylor today underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on her right knee, the team has announced.

The surgery was performed by Mercury team orthopedist Dr. Evan Lederman. This is not the knee that sidelined Taylor for the 2012 season.

Taylor is expected to miss approximately 6-8 weeks. The last day of the 2013 WNBA regular season is September 15.

"Penny is one of the toughest competitors in our game, both physically and mentally," said Mercury President and COO Amber Cox. "This current setback is minor in comparison to all she has already battled back from and overcome in the last two years. The combination of our great medical staff and Penny's work ethic gives me every confidence that she will be back in our lineup when we start our quest for a third title in mid-September."
