PHOENIX The Phoenix Mercury announced today the signing of forward Megan Frazee to complete the clubs 15-player training camp roster. Workouts for the clubs
2013 training camp will begin on May 6 at US Airways Center and will include a home preseason contest against the Japan National Team on May 19. Tipoff is
slated for 3 p.m. PT.
A 6-3 center, Frazee was originally selected by the San Antonio Silver Stars 14 overall in the 2009 WNBA Draft. She appeared in 39 games over the course of two seasons in San Antonio (2009 and 2010), averaging 4.7 points in 10.9
minutes per game. A graduate of Liberty University, Frazee spent the 2012-13 offseason playing for Samsun in Turkey, where she averaged 18.7 points and 7.4
rebounds per game.
The Mercury training camp roster includes nine returners from last seasons team, including a healthy Diana Taurasi, Penny Taylor, Candice Dupree and
Charde Houston, who all missed significant time last year due to injury. The six newcomers are highlighted by 6-foot-8 rookie Brittney Griner, who was
selected by the Mercury first overall in the most anticipated WNBA draft class in league history.
As the Mercury prepares to capture its third WNBA championship, the club has assembled an experienced group, totaling 137 playoff games played and eight
championship rings. Taylor and newcomer Erin Thorn are the most experienced, each entering her 11th year in the league. Griner, Nikki Greene (Penn State 13) and Jalana Childs (Kansas State 12) are the only rookies in camp.
A complete training camp roster can be found below and attached. The 15-player roster will be trimmed to 11 players by May 23.
Taurasi, Griner and the rest of the Mercury will make their 2013 debut on May 27 when they host the Chicago Sky and Elena Delle Donne, the second overall
pick in this years draft. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2. Flexible ticket packages are available by calling 602-252-WNBA or
