Five-on-Five with Cayla George

How does it feel to be back with the Mercury?

I love being back. Phoenix is like my home away from home. I love the heat. I love the family that they have here and the Phoenix fans. Happy to be back.

Are there any new faces that you’re excited to be working with this year?

My fellow Aussie, Steph Talbot. She’s a young Aussie coming through so I’m really excited to see how she does this year.

If you were a super hero, what would you super power be?

I was talking about this the other day with someone. There’s a biscuit in Australia called the Tim Tam and there’s like a genie to create Tim Tam’s as soon as the packet ends. So like create more Tim Tam’s in the packet. So I guess maybe genie powers. Actually that’s really bad…Scrap that. I don’t want that to be my power. The ability to automatically remove dog hair from my clothing.

If you had to binge watch one television show for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The most recent one I really got into in non-stop watch was “Wentworth”, which is an Australian female prison show. (Laughs) That was the last one on my mind. That was a few weeks ago. I did four season in two weeks. So I guess that one. NO WAIT. I change it! I would binge watch “How I Met Your Mother”. All nine seasons. I’ve done it before and I would do it again for the rest of my life. That’d be easy.

What are your expectations as this season unfolds?

It’s a lot of fresh faces so I guess just coming together as a team. On and off the court getting to know each other. I feel like if we get it done on the defensive end, we’ve got a lot of offensive scoring power. I feel if we are an aggressive defensive team, we’ll have a decent season. I’m really excited and looking forward to getting into it.
