The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today acquired the 12th-overall pick (first round) in the 2018 WNBA Draft from the Minnesota Lynx in exchange for guard Danielle Robinson and the Mercury’s second-round pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft.
“We loved having D-Rob in a Mercury uniform,” said Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman. “She was a great asset to our team and our community, and we wish her the best in Minnesota. This move allows us to add a very valuable commodity, an additional 2018 first-round pick, as we pursue all avenues of building a championship-caliber roster this year.”
Robinson was acquired by the Mercury on January 31, 2017 as part of a trade with the San Antonio Stars (now the Las Vegas Aces). Starting 29 of the 32 games she appeared in during the 2017 season, the three-time WNBA All-Star averaged 6.9 points and 3.4 assists in 23.5 minutes per game. Robinson scored a season-high 17 points at Dallas on August 10, to go along with seven assists and five rebounds in what was possibly her best all-around performance in a Mercury uniform.
