Mercury To Host Steward Health Care “Rock The Pink” Night For Breast Health Awareness

The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury will host Steward Health Care Rock the Pink Night, the team’s annual initiative to awareness and funds for breast health, on Friday, August 10 during their matchup with the Indiana Fever at Talking Stick Resort Arena at 7 p.m.

While the Mercury rock their new Nike Breast Health Awareness jerseys on the floor, the lower-level seating bowl will be draped with 9,500 exclusive “Rock the Pink” shirts for a third consecutive PINK OUT thanks to Steward Health Care, creating the WNBA’s most striking visual for one of its signature platforms.  Mercury mascot Scorch, the Mercury Hip Hop Squad and Mercury in-arena DJ Dean Michaels will also rock the pink on Friday.

Following the game, the Mercury will host a live auction of game-worn pink uniforms and one-of-a-kind memorabilia from select players and coaches in attendance, including Diana Taurasi and Brittney Griner.  Fans can also click here to bid on game-worn memorabilia from the rest of the Mercury team from now until Sunday, August 12.

From 5:30 p.m. until the end of the game, fans can purchase a mini basketball for $5 in the Casino Arizona Pavilion in order to participate in a postgame ball toss. Those who participate will have the opportunity to throw their mini basketball from the stands into a target on the court, and the fan that comes closest to or hits the target will receive a VIP experience with the Mercury team.

The Mercury will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the jersey auctions and ball toss, along with all proceeds from sales of an exclusive Rock the Pink shirt in the Mercury Team Shop that evening, to the American Cancer Society as part of Steward Health Care Rock the Pink Night.

In advance of Steward Health Care Rock the Pink Night, Mercury players Camille Little, Stephanie Talbot, Yvonne Turner, Marie Gülich and Angel Robinson will make a surprise visit with patients at Mountain Vista Medical Center on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m.  Additionally, Mercury players DeWanna Bonner and Briann January will greet fans and sign autographs at the Steward Center for Sports Medicine & Community Health in downtown Phoenix on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 6 p.m.

The Mercury will honor cancer survivors, battlers and medical professionals in attendance throughout the game, and will include survivors in pregame player introductions, the presentation of the court-sized American flag for the national anthem and several other in-game activations.

WNBA all-time leading scorer Diana Taurasi and 2017 WNBA scoring champion Brittney Griner return to Phoenix this summer to lead the Mercury in a quest for the franchise’s WNBA-record tying fourth championship.  Tickets to Steward Health Care “Rock the Pink” Night on Friday, August 10 and the rest of the Mercury’s 2018 home games are available online at PhoenixMercury.com or by phone at 602-252-WNBA.
