Phoenix Mercury to Honor First Responders and Military Personnel During Hoops and Heroes Brought to You by APS on July 19

The Phoenix Mercury will pay tribute to the Valley’s bravest men and women during Hoops and Heroes brought to you by APS on Thursday, July 19 during their matchup with the Las Vegas Aces at Talking Stick Resort Arena at 7 p.m.  The Mercury will host a number of local first responders and military personnel at the game who will take part in a number of exciting activations, including a Future Soldier Swear-in Ceremony featuring approximately 50 future U.S. Army soldiers during halftime. The team will also welcome families from 100 Club of Arizona, an organization committed to providing immediate financial assistance to families of public safety officers and firefighters who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and delivering resources to enhance their safety and welfare.

As a thank you to our military for their bravery and service, the Mercury will offer military personnel 40 percent off tickets for Hoops and Heroes brought to you by APS. Tickets can be purchased at the Talking Stick Resort Arena box office or online at PhoenixMercury.com. Please note that all online orders must be claimed at the Talking Stick Resort Arena box office with a valid military ID.

Prior to tip-off, fans will have the opportunity to pose for photos with new and antique firetrucks and police vehicles parked on the Fry’s Plaza at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Local first responders and military personnel will participate in various on-court promotions and contests, and fans will have the opportunity to recognize the contributions of our heroes with a number of special in-game tributes throughout the night.

In advance of Hoops and Heroes brought to you by APS, Mercury center Brittney Griner will visit with first responders at the Chandler Fire Department tomorrow (July 17) at 1 p.m.  Mercury players Yvonne Turner, Stephanie Talbot and Briann January will also participate in a round-table discussion with members of the Phoenix Police Department on Wednesday, July 18 at 3 p.m.
