Jody Jackson
Jody Jackson is a well-respected sports anchor and reporter in the Valley since 2000.
A 6-time Emmy Award winner, a 2014 profile on her by the Arizona Republic stated “Through hard work and thanks to a disarming personality, Jackson has become the most visible female sportscaster in Arizona history.”
After 23 years with the regional network serving as host and reporter during Diamondbacks & Coyotes broadcasts, Jackson continues as a host and reporter for Dbacks TV (MLB). Returning to her radio roots, Jackson has biweekly appearances on Arizona Sports 98.7 talking Dbacks baseball and general sports talk in the Valley. She is an analyst for the Cardinals Radio Network on pre and post-game coverage.
From 2001-2017 Jackson was the preseason host and reporter for Arizona Cardinals broadcasts on FOX 10 and ABC 15. As part of Fox Sports Arizona’s coverage of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, Jackson reported courtside and hosted Suns Live from 2006-2012.
Over the years, Jackson brought athletes‘ personalities to television with original programming shows like ’Driven In´and Ðbacks Family“. She conducted interviews for FOX Sports Arizona’s critically acclaimed In My Own Words – Anquan Boldin, In My Own Words – Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald, and the Emmy Award-winning “In My Own Words – Frank Kush.” From 2000-2012, Jackson served as a sideline reporter on Arizona State football and basketball games for FOX Sports Arizona and hosted the weekly coach’s show Devilball with Herb Sendek.
In her first TV role in Buffalo, NY, Jackson worked at the CBS television affiliate, WIVB, covering the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Sabres, and the Triple-A baseball affiliate Buffalo Bisons. In working with the Bills, she was a co-anchor for post-game shows and a half-hour Sunday night show and contributed numerous pre-game features for the team’s radio network (WGR) called “Jody’s Journal”.
Before her stint in Buffalo, she was in the radio industry in Fort Lauderdale, FL. She served as the primary reporter, anchor, and producer for the Miami Dolphins while at Sportsradio 560 WQAM. In addition to her work with the Dolphins, Jackson covered the Florida Marlins during their 1997 World Championship season, the Florida Panthers, the Miami Heat during a pair of playoff runs, and the University of Miami’s football, basketball, and baseball teams.
A 1995 graduate of the University of Miami, she received her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and political science. At UM, she was a writer and assistant news editor for the Miami Hurricanes student newspaper. She was vice president of the UM chapter of Women in Communication and was the feature twirler for the University of Miami Band of the Hour.
Jackson teaches Broadcast Voice and Delivery as a faculty associate at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Born in Hollywood, FL, Jackson resides in Tempe, AZ with her husband Chad, and children Connor and Caitlyn along with their Whoodle, Chase. She enjoys distance running, hiking, dancing, yoga, and cheering on her kids from the bleachers!
