In honor of LGBT Pride Month, the three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury will host the team’s third annual PRIDE Night, brought to you by Coors Light, when they take on the Dallas Wings on Saturday, June 18, at Talking Stick Resort Arena. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

In celebration of PRIDE Night, the Mercury will welcome special guest Jason Collins, the first active and out player in NBA history, who came out on the cover of a May 2013 issue of Sports Illustrated. Collins will be recognized during a halftime Q&A at center court with Hall of Famer and Mercury Vice President, Ann Meyers Drysdale. Pregame media availability with Collins will be at 6:45 p.m. in the Al McCoy Media Center.

In addition, the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a special double-sided placard, which will be printed in four different colors and placed strategically throughout the arena’s seats to stripe the seating bowl as a rainbow. One side of the placard will feature a photo collage of the team’s 20-year history, and the other will read “X-Factor Loud, X-Factor Proud” with an opportunity for fans to fill-in-the-blank with what makes them proud.

A number of in-game elements will also celebrate diversity, including “BG’s Be True Row of the Game” where one lucky row will win Nike “Be True” gear, courtesy of Mercury center Brittney Griner. The team will use rainbow-colored filters during pregame introductions and debut a “Love Cam” to highlight love in all its forms, including parents and children, siblings, friends, and romantic partners. The fourth installment of the team’s well-received video series, “My Mercury Story,” will also air in-game, this one highlighting two Mercury X-Factor members whose love of the team and each other led them to hold their wedding ceremony at the arena in 2014.

“We are excited to host our third annual PRIDE Night, and to continue fostering an inclusive environment at our games,” said Phoenix Suns and Mercury President, Jason Rowley. “We open our arms to all fans, and the purpose of this particular platform is to celebrate our LGBT supporters, as important now as ever.”

In addition, the team has partnered with Live 101.5 and its radio personalities Lady La and Aneesh, from The Morning Mess, to co-host various in-game activities and contests.

The WNBA is the first professional sports league to establish an integrated marketing, media, grassroots and social responsibility program for the LGBT community including a new special website, WNBA.com/pride, where league and team Pride content, events and schedules will be posted throughout the season.
