PHOENIX – The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury’s chase for a second-straight WNBA title begins now as the team officially clinched the 10th playoff berth in team history and the sixth postseason trip in the last seven seasons.

Despite tonight’s 78-68 loss vs. Los Angeles, Phoenix still clinched with a San Antonio loss. The Mercury (15-11, .577) are just the second team to secure a berth this season. Phoenix will look to be the first team to repeat as WNBA champions since the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001 and 2002, and join the Houston Comets (1997-2000) as the only teams in WNBA history to win a total of four WNBA Championships.

The 2015 WNBA Playoffs presented by Boost Mobile begin September 17.  The Mercury’s postseason schedule has not yet been determined and will be announced at a later date.

Single-game tickets for Game 1 of the Mercury’s opening round series will go on sale to the general public Monday, August 24 at 2 p.m. X-Factor Members (season ticket holders) have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets to Game 1 during the pre-sale event beginning Monday, August 24 at 10 a.m. Round 1, Game 1 playoff tickets start at $12 and can be purchased at PhoenixMercury.com.

Phoenix sits in second-place in the WNBA Western Conference, 3.5 games behind the Minnesota Lynx—a team that Phoenix will face two more times in the regular season. The Mercury are led by three 2015 WNBA All-Stars: DeWanna Bonner, Candice Dupree and Brittney Griner, and 2014 WNBA Coach of the Year Sandy Brondello. A key to the Mercury success this season has been the X-Factor as the best fans in the WNBA have helped the Mercury to a home record of 10-4 (.714).

The Mercury will be back at US Airways Center on Sunday for a 3 p.m. game vs. the Minnesota Lynx. Single game tickets are available by calling 602-252-WNBA or by visiting PhoenixMercury.com.
