Phoenix to appear in franchise-record 10th consecutive postseason
PHOENIX – The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today clinched its franchise-record 10th consecutive playoff appearance (2013-2022), 13th in the last 14 seasons and 17th in franchise history overall. The Mercury sealed its berth this evening with a loss by Minnesota prior to the team’s game against Chicago. With tonight’s results, the Mercury have clinched the eighth seed and are set to face the top-seeded Las Vegas Aces on the road in the first round of the WNBA 2022 Playoffs. In this season’s new 2-1 format, the first two games of the opening round will be hosted by Vegas. If Phoenix were to win one of the two first round games on the road, the Mercury will host Game 3 of the first round at Footprint Center on Tuesday, August 23.
