Mercury Fan Lynnalison Mcgavack-Martin Awarded $7,000 as part of the “BG Dunks” Promotion

The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury awarded LynnAlison McGavack-Martin of Litchfield Park, Ariz. with $7,000 today as part of the team’s BG Dunks Promotion, an initiative that grants $7,000 to one lucky fan every time Mercury star Brittney Griner dunks in a 2019 regular season home game at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Fans must register at in order to be eligible to win.

Griner’s first dunk of the 2019 WNBA season came with 4:24 remaining in the third quarter of the Mercury’s matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks at Talking Stick Resort Arena on June 14. Video of the dunk can be downloaded here.

Upon learning that she would be the lucky recipient of the BG Dunks $7,000 prize, McGavack-Martin replied, “Holy cow I won?! And I get to meet Brittney Griner?!.” A recently retired teacher of 42 years, McGavack-Martin added that she plans to use the money to travel and for her grandchildren’s future education.

Griner is the most prolific dunker in WNBA history— she has now recorded 11 regular-season dunks through her first six WNBA seasons, which is 11 of the 14 regular-season dunks in the 22-year history of the WNBA.  BG also has the league’s only playoff dunk in history, and two All-Star Game dunks.
