The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today announced the signing of restricted free agent guard Odyssey Sims to an offer sheet. Because of Sims’ status, Los Angeles has four days to match the offer.
Sims is a five-year WNBA veteran who has spent the last two seasons with the Sparks, and owns career averages of 12.8 points and 3.6 assists in 156 games. The 5-foot-8 guard was originally selected with the second overall pick by the Tulsa Shock of the 2014 WNBA Draft, where she went on to be named to the league’s All-Rookie Team that season. Sims was a four-year standout at Baylor University where she played alongside Mercury center Brittney Griner for three seasons.
After coming within one win of a trip to the WNBA Finals, the Phoenix Mercury return in 2019 in search of a league-record tying fourth WNBA title. Led by the All-Star trio of Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner, Phoenix opens its title quest on May 25 at Seattle on ABC.
