PHOENIX MERCURY GIVES FANS A BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK WITH NEW CONTENT SERIES “FOR THE W,” PRESENTED BY BALLY BET

“You always think that when you get there, you’re going to win it,” Diana Taurasi recounts in episode one of “For the W,” the new content series from Bally Bet and the Phoenix Mercury. When the two organizations entered the largest and longest partnership deal in the history of women’s team sports last season, one of the goals was enabling the kind of storytelling so deserved by the women of the Mercury as top-tier athletes, on and off the court, whether as international players, rehabbing from injury or balancing motherhood.

Bally Bet’s groundbreaking and purpose-driven investment makes that storytelling possible through the year-long content series developed by Centercourt Studios, the creative team behind the Phoenix Mercury and Phoenix Suns. Episode one, aptly titled “The G.O.A.T.,” features WNBA legend Diana Taurasi as she prepares for her 18th WNBA season and the pursuit of a championship following the loss to the Chicago Sky in the 2021 Finals.

“When you go deep into a playoff run like that, you give everything you have. Physically, mentally, I was exhausted. To get back in the gym, you always have to make that firm decision. You always have to look yourself in the mirror and ask, ‘do you want to do this again?’ I still want to fight. I still like to compete,” added Taurasi, the three-time WNBA champion.

“People talk about players being the greatest of all-time and they use that phrase a lot, but with Diana, it’s the truth,” said Jim Pitman, general manager of the Phoenix Mercury. “There has never been a competitor in our organization like Diana Taurasi.”

Future episodes will showcase untold stories of the team’s players and staff throughout the 2022 season and offseason, including insights from first-year head coach Vanessa Nygaard, Mercury rookies, Skylar Diggins-Smith’s passion for the game and Kia Nurse’s road to recovery.

The digital series debuts Friday, April 29.
