Phoenix Mercury to Award $1,000 Grant to a Deserving Arizona Teacher

The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury is now accepting nominations for one lucky Arizona teacher to receive a $1,000 classroom grant for the upcoming school year. The team would like to recognize the hard work and often thankless work Valley educators provide day in and day out. The winning teacher will be recognized will be awarded the $1,000 classroom grant for the upcoming school year.

Five deserving finalists will be selected and recognized on-court during a special halftime ceremony during the Mercury’s upcoming home game against the Washington Mystics on Sunday, August 4. The nomination is open to all Arizona kindergarten-12th grade educators and friends and family are encouraged to enter submissions at Mercury.wnba.com/teacher-2019. Submissions are open and must be entered by 6 p.m. July 31 to be considered for the $1,000 grant.

After coming within one win of a trip to the 2018 WNBA Finals, the Phoenix Mercury continue their quest in 2019 in search of a league-record-tying fourth WNBA title with the All-Star trio of Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner.
