First 2,500 Fans Will Score an Exclusive Penny Taylor Bobblehead
The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury, who for 26 seasons have provided representation and visibility for women of all backgrounds, will celebrate their annual Inspiring Women Night brought to you by CarMax this Friday, August 12, when they take on the Dallas Wings at Footprint Center at 7 p.m.
Every seat in the lower bowl will be decked out in Mercury Inspiring Women Night t-shirts, thanks to CarMax, all women’s apparel at the Team Shop will be 50% off, and the first 2,500 in attendance will receive a voucher redeemable for a one-of-a-kind Penny Taylor bobblehead. This exclusive bobblehead commemorates Taylor’s 2022 induction into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. The team will continue its celebration of the Mercury legend with the final episode of CarMax “The Drive: Road to the Hall of Fame,” a four-part video content series highlighting Taylor’s career and featuring interviews with Taylor, Diana Taurasi, past Mercury teammates and fellow Hall of Fame inductees. The first three episodes can be viewed here.
The night will feature on-court and video tributes to incredible women in sports, business and philanthropy who have made an impact in their communities. The late Lusia Harris – considered one of the pioneers of women’s basketball – will be honored with the Believe in Women award brought to you by Fry’s Food Stores. The Mercury will also announce the first recipient of the EntrepreneuHER Award presented by FirstBank, an award that recognizes an outstanding woman-owned small business in the local community with a $5,000 donation.
The Mercury will host and introduce high school girls basketball state champion teams from all across Arizona, showcase a young Valley girl who was inspired by Brittney Griner’s example to collect dozens and dozens of shoes for the homeless, and tell the stories of the women who most inspire the Mercury players.
