Phoenix Mercury to Host Pride Night Brought to you by Coors Light on Friday June 14

Talking Stick Resort Arena will have a very PRIDEful feel on June 14 as the three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury host the team’s sixth annual PRIDE Night, brought to you by Coors Light. The team will be taking on the Los Angeles Sparks with tip-off set for 7 p.m.

“We want to be leaders in the space of diversity and inclusion, and PRIDE Night and the surrounding activations are just one of the many ways we try to communicate that to our fans and community,” said Mercury Chief Operating Officer Vince Kozar.  “We are proud to have been the first professional sports team in Arizona to celebrate PRIDE and are even more gratified to be celebrating this year for the sixth consecutive season.”

The celebration, where the Mercury affirms its games and home court are welcoming to all Arizonans, will include events leading up to the night and culminates with the PRIDE game on Friday the 14th, which will feature pregame, in-game and postgame activities, as well as a fan giveaway. On the night of the game, 10,000 double-sided, multicolored fan placards will be placed strategically to stripe the arena’s lower seating bowl.  In addition, more than a dozen local corporate and LGBT organizations will participate in a pregame expo in the Casino Arizona Pavilion.

Activations throughout the night include a special welcome video, themed performances by the Hip Hop Squad, in-game competitions, as well as the Coors Light Postgame Party in the COURTyard featuring Drag Queen Kahoot Trivia, yard games, photo booths and more.

On June 12, two days before the game, Brittney Griner will host a small private luncheon with PFLAG Phoenix, the local chapter of PFLAG, the United States’ first and largest organization uniting families and allies with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer. Throughout the week, the Mercury social media channels will amplify Mercury player stories of who and what they are proud of this PRIDE season.

After coming within one win of a trip to the 2018 WNBA Finals, the Phoenix Mercury have returned in 2019 in search of a league-record-tying fourth WNBA title.  Led by the All-Star trio of Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner tickets for future Phoenix Mercury home games at Talking Stick Resort Arena can be purchased by calling 602.252.WNBA or by visiting
