Phoenix Mercury Unveils Second Nike Uniform, The Statement Edition

The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today unveiled its second new Nike uniform, the Statement Edition, which is set to debut for the 2018 WNBA season beginning May 18.  The Statement Edition joins the Icon Edition as the Mercury’s two primary on-court jerseys for 2018.  Nike became the official apparel provider of the NBA and G-League for the 2017-18 seasons and takes over the WNBA this season.

Nike tapped into USA Women’s Basketball and WNBA Nike athletes for insights on the feel and make-up of the uniforms, which will allow enhanced movement for athletes delivered through vent technology in the shorts and scapula cuts on the jersey.  These uniforms were designed with the female athlete in mind and also feature two-tone orange, the Mercury’s secondary color, with purple accents.  The back collar of the jersey features a silver championship tab that sports the number “3,” representing the Mercury’s three WNBA titles (2007, 2009, 2014).

New Nike apparel will be available for purchase in the Team Shop at Talking Stick Resort Arena this summer, including authentic on-court jerseys for the very first time.

WNBA all-time leading scorer Diana Taurasi and 2017 WNBA scoring champion Brittney Griner return to Phoenix this summer to lead the Mercury in a quest for the franchise’s WNBA-record tying fourth championship.  Tickets for Fry’s Food Stores Opening Night on Friday, May 18, and the rest of the Mercury’s 2018 home games are on sale NOW and can be purchased by calling 602.252.WNBA or by visiting PhoenixMercury.com.
