PHOENIX MERCURY WINS THIRD OVERALL PICK IN 2024 WNBA DRAFT LOTTERY
Marks the Mercury’s Second No. 3 Pick in Franchise History

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Mercury won the third overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft Lottery, which was held today at the ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn. The Mercury will have the No. 3 pick in the first round of the WNBA Draft 2024 presented by State Farm® held on Monday, April 15.

“This is a deep draft class and having the third pick will give us multiple options to add talent to our team,” said Nick U’Ren, Phoenix Mercury general manager. “We have the most amazing fans who have been so supportive as we continue to build to return to our championship-caliber play, and we look forward to what’s to come on draft night and beyond when we add another talented player to the Mercury.”

This marks the second time in franchise history that the Mercury has landed the third overall pick in the draft lottery. In 2005 the Mercury drafted guard Sandora Irvin with the No. 3 pick. Irvin played two seasons with the Mercury, traded to the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2006.

The Mercury entered the lottery with the second-best odds to land the No. 1 pick, behind the Indiana Fever. Lottery odds were based on the cumulative records of the two most recent regular seasons (2022 and 2023). The Los Angeles Sparks and Seattle Storm were the other teams that qualified for this year’s lottery.
