The Mercury’s commitment to celebrating cultures in Arizona extends for the first time to the Asian American Pacific Islander community. With a growing population in the Valley, this is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate a host of cultures and individuals.

Following the tragedy in Uvalde, Tex., the Mercury began a partnership with Everytown and the Arizona chapter of Mom’s Demand Action to raise awareness around making our community safer and celebrating the dedicated Arizonans doing the work.

After learning from and following the lead of our players, the Mercury has celebrated Black Excellence as. Part of our theme night schedule annually – elevating stories and artists, celebrating impactful community members, and partnering to advance health equity education.

The Mercury was the first pro team in Arizona to celebrate a Pride Day, first to march in the Phoenix Pride Parade, and first to sponsor the Phoenix Pride festival. With more out LGBTQ+ athletes than any league in the world, it’s our honor to celebrate Pride for the 12th season in a row.

Though called different things through the years (from Native American Youth Basketball Night to NABI night in partnership with the Native American Basketball Invitational), the last two seasons it has been Originativ – a celebration of the 22 tribes who call Arizona home, whose first sports love is basketball.

Girls who play sports become women who lead, and providing inspiration and visibility for the young girls who make up the next generation of WNBA stars and community leaders is central to our mission. In partnership with Girl Scouts of Arizona, this is Year 4 of this celebration.

The Latino and Latina roots in Arizona run deep and have always been well-represented in the X-Factor. This night aims to celebrate and give visibility to the rich culture and the causes closest to the hearts of Latino and Latina Arizonans.

As part of the WNBA’s Breast Health Awareness platform, the Mercury will celebrate Rock the Pink, elevating our commitment to raising awareness around and funds for the scourge of breast cancer. Our 20th annual auction of game-worn gear and memorabilia has raised more than $300,000 in the last 11 years alone.

Alongside our partners in the community, the Mercury exhibits a firm commitment to sustainability by showcasing and giving visibility to the important practices that extend the life of products in an ultimate effort to eliminate single use plastic in our facility and beyond.

The culmination of a season long celebration of the longest-running, most-successful women’s league in the world. We celebrate the women – past and present – who have paved the way for our franchise, players, fans, and community in our 29-year history.
