Mercury Sign Free Agent Guard Noelle Quinn

PHOENIX – The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury today signed veteran guard Noelle Quinn, the team has announced. Quinn owns career averages of 5.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists and enters her ninth WNBA season in 2015. In addition, the Mercury signed Australian guard Tess Madgen.

“Noelle is a proven veteran who will be a very important part of our 2015 team,” said Phoenix Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman. “We are confident in her ability to defend, play the pick-and-roll, and be a positive part of our locker room culture.”

Quinn, 30, spent the previous two seasons with the Seattle Storm and has also seen time with the Washington Mystics (2012), Los Angeles Sparks (2009-2011) and Minnesota Lynx (2007-2008). During the 2011 season, the 6-foot guard played for current Mercury head coach Sandy Brondello who was then an assistant with the Sparks.

In her last two seasons with the Storm, she in 66 of 68 possible games and made 20 starts. During those two seasons with Seattle, she averaged 4.7 points and 3.7 rebounds. Overall in her career, Quinn has missed just nine games, playing in 263 of a possible 272 games. She started every game in 2010 with Los Angeles, averaging a career-high 10.2 points. Quinn is a career 33.1-percent three-point shooter and shot a career-best 40.3-percent from beyond the arc in 2012.

Currently, Quinn is a member of Artego Bydgoszcz in the Poland-BLK league where she is averaging 6.0 points and 1.5 rebounds. A graduate of UCLA, Quinn was selected fourth overall in the 2007 WNBA Draft by Minnesota.

Madgen, 24, has played professionally in Australia since 2008. The 5-foot-11 guard is currently playing with Melborne in Australia’s WNBL where she ranks among the league leaders in points (15.2, 9th) and assists (4.6, 4th). She is also averaging 5.3 rebounds this season.
