PHOENIX – The Phoenix Mercury will “Rock the Pink” during its annual breast health awareness game, brought to you by IASIS Healthcare, on Friday, August 7 against the Minnesota Lynx at US Airways Center. The team will wear all-pink uniforms and host a number of uplifting activities in an effort to celebrate breast cancer survivors and promote breast health awareness. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

Prior to the game, the Mercury will tip off “Rock the Pink” by selling pink luminarias, where fans can write messages in honor of those who have been affected by breast cancer. Each luminaria will cost $1, with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society, a non-profit organization that provides direct help and assistance to those suffering from breast cancer. The luminarias will be placed in the shape of a pink breast cancer ribbon that will be displayed on the US Airways Center plaza and lit at halftime.

The Mercury will honor breast cancer survivors throughout the evening, including survivors presenting a giant American flag during the national anthem, ringing the X-Factor siren prior to tipoff, and participating in various in-game contests. Breast cancer survivors will also be paired up and announced with the Mercury starting lineup during player introductions.

Fans will also have the opportunity to bid on pink Mercury autographed items in a silent auction during the game and participate in a live auction immediately after the game when select Mercury players donate their game-worn jerseys, with proceeds benefitting the American Cancer Society.

In addition, the first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a pink Phoenix Mercury breast health awareness sweatband, courtesy of IASIS Healthcare. The Mercury’s mascot, Scorch, and the Hip Hop Squad will also support the cause by wearing pink throughout the night.

Sandy Brondello, 2014 WNBA Coach of the Year, leads 2014 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Brittney Griner, All-Star Candice Dupree and three-time WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year DeWanna Bonner as the Mercury continue to defend their title on Friday, August 7 at 7 p.m. against the Minnesota Lynx at US Airways Center.
