Phoenix Mercury to Host Fiesta Night Saturday, July 18

PHOENIX – The defending WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury will host its inaugural Fiesta Night on Saturday, July 18 when the team takes on the New York Liberty at US Airways Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., with doors scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m.

To celebrate Fiesta Night, entertainment with a Hispanic twist will be featured throughout the evening including a live band performing on the plaza prior to tipoff and the National Anthem sung by 17-year-old mariachi singer Alan Ponce. Fans 21 and older will also enjoy discounted “Mercuritas,” a Mercury-inspired margarita, at concession stands throughout the arena.

Fans will also have an opportunity to purchase a limited edition “Las Mercury Basquetbol” shirt in the Team Shop for $10.

In addition, a number of in-game announcements and player messages will be read in Spanish throughout the night. Mercury mascot Scorch will also join in the festivities by wearing a poncho and Mexican sombrero during the game.

Sandy Brondello, 2014 WNBA Coach of the Year, leads 2014 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Brittney Griner, All-Star Candice Dupree and three-time WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year DeWanna Bonner as the Mercury continue to defend their title on Saturday, July 18, at 7 p.m. against the New York Liberty at US Airways Center.
