PHOENIX MERCURY UNVEIL NIKE REBEL EDITION UNIFORM AND FIRST EVER MATCHING COURT

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Mercury and Nike today unveiled a new Rebel Edition uniform that celebrates the rich history of Valley basketball and the Mercury’s passionate and loyal fan base. The Mercury will also debut a matching Rebel court, becoming the first WNBA team to introduce an alternate court that will be used throughout an entire season.

“This uniform and court are dedicated to our fans and to the Valley itself for helping to bring our 28-year franchise to this watershed moment in women’s sports,” said Mercury President Vince Kozar. “Led by Mat Ishbia, our organization is committed to pushing WNBA investment to new heights, and becoming the first team to develop a second court specifically designed for an alternate uniform – something that has become the standard in the NBA – is another example of that commitment.”

The Place: The new Rebel Edition uniform features a pixelated sunset gradient along the side panels of the jersey and shorts, across the base of the shorts and on the trim of the collar, paying homage to Arizona’s signature vibrant skies.

The People: Like the original Rebel Edition iteration, the 2024 Rebel Edition jersey features a large “PHX” script across the chest – a mark introduced by Nike in 2021 for the Mercury – with the X highlighted in orange, proudly celebrating the X-Factor, the most avid fan base in the WNBA.

The History: The 2024 Rebel Edition uniform celebrates the most popular uniform in Arizona sports history, the Suns’ “Valley” jersey. The uniform’s incorporation of the distinctive sunrise/sunset gradient on a black chassis is just one more link between the two franchises and their 28-year history together.

The new Rebel Edition will join the Heroine (white) and Explorer (purple and orange gradient) Editions as Phoenix’s three uniforms for the 2024 season. The Mercury will wear the Rebel Edition uniform throughout the season, starting with their May 25 matchup against the Dallas Wings at Footprint Center.

In 2024, all three jerseys will feature newly announced badge partner, Partake Foods, on the left shoulder – part of the Mercury and Cleveland Avenue’s revolutionary partnership that introduces the first-ever rotating jersey badge.

Fans can purchase the new Rebel Edition jersey online at shop.phoenixmercury.com and at the Player 15 Group business headquarters located at 475 E Lincoln Street in downtown Phoenix. A Rebel Edition merchandise collection will also be available at the Player 15 headquarters and the Team Shop at Footprint Center.
